ABOUT THE ART
Allegory of Music is a sketch for the project of the stage curtain of the Słowacki Theatre in Kraków (around 1892) by Henryk Siemiradzki (Polish, 1843 – 1902). Siemiradzki was a Russian-born Polish painter based in Rome, best remembered for his monumental academic art. He was particularly known for his depictions of scenes from the ancient Greek-Roman world and the New Testament, owned by many national galleries of Europe.
